The AANA Health Policy Fellowship Application Window is Now Open!

The past decade has witnessed tremendous change in the reimbursement and regulation of musculoskeletal care – and the future promises even greater change. AANA has determined the need to be proactive in influencing the legislative and regulatory forces effecting this change, particularly regarding treatment guidelines, compensation models and assessing the quality of care.

In keeping with this mission of advocacy, AANA has created the Health Policy Fellowship program that seeks to develop and engage early-career Orthopaedic Surgeons in the national discussion on health care.

The AANA Health Policy Fellowship is open to Orthopaedic Surgeons in the United States who have completed a certified arthroscopy and/or sports medicine fellowship, and who are AANA members in good standing.

A complete application will include:

  1. Submission of a personal statement.
  2. For current Orthopaedic Fellows, letters of support and approval from the director of the applicant’s arthroscopy/sports medicine fellowship.
  3. For practicing post-graduate applicants, two letters of support from AANA members who have in-depth knowledge of the applicant's practice and advocacy interest are required.

The selected fellow will choose a research topic to be presented during the AANA Annual Meeting. The project should be suitable for publication in Arthroscopy, AANA’s peer-reviewed journal.

The application deadline is Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
