The Foot/Ankle Course is an interactive two-day, hands-on, surgical skills course designed in cooperation with the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) to give participants the opportunity to learn and practice recognized and advanced arthroscopic techniques in surgery for the foot and ankle and sports medicine topics.

Directed by an expert and skilled faculty of arthroscopic surgeons, the course features 7 hours of hands-on lab time with the latest equipment and techniques on cadaver specimens. Lecture presentations will be presented and augmented with videos of actual arthroscopic cases to further enhance the learning experience.

Train as a Team

APEx courses were designed with the whole surgical team in mind. Physician attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their PA, NP, RN, or other support staff. There is no better way to prepare for real-world OR situations than to train together. PA's, NP's, and RN's are also invited to attend on their own. Advanced Practitioners who attend without an orthopaedic surgeon will be paired with one on-site.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course the participant will be able to:

  1. Develop and improve competence in foot and ankle surgery by practicing surgical techniques on cadavers
  2. Identify and apply cutting-edge techniques for minimally invasive surgical procedures as applied to foot and ankle pathology to advance knowledge of current treatments and alternatives
  3. Evaluate the efficacy of procedures by using evidence-based medicine to support treatment options for foot and ankle arthroscopy and sports medicine foot and ankle problems

Target Audience

The primary target audience for Controversies in Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine: Solutions and Outcomes is AANA members and other healthcare professionals who desire to improve their arthroscopic knowledge, competence, performance, and patient outcomes.

AANA has determined the need for this live educational activity based on identifying professional practice gaps, previous course evaluations and the AANA Self Assessment Examination. The educational content of this activity was based upon current issues and topics provided by AANA planning committees and membership.

The Arthroscopy Association of North America is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Refunds

Requests for refunds must be received in writing by the AANA office at least four weeks prior to the start of the course. Refunds will not be issued for requests received less than four weeks before the start of the course.
