The foot/ankle course is an interactive two-day hands-on surgical skills course designed in cooperation with the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. Its purpose is to give participants the opportunity to learn and practice organized, advanced and newer arthroscopic techniques in foot and ankle surgery. The course is directed by an expert and skilled faculty of arthroscopic surgeons and features 7 hours of hands-on laboratory time with the latest equipment and techniques on cadaver specimens. Lecture presentations will be augmented with videos of actual arthroscopic surgeries. A portion of the course will be presented in a “case-based” format to enhance the educational objectives.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course the participant will be able to:

  1. Develop and improve competence by practicing foot and ankle surgical techniques on cadavers
  2. Identify and apply cutting edge techniques for minimally invasive surgical procedures as they pertain to foot and ankle pathology, to advance knowledge of current treatments and alternatives
  3. Highlight the efficacy of procedures by using evidence-based medicine to support treatment options

Target Audience

The primary target audience for the course entitled “New Techniques and Controversies in Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine” is AANA and AOFAS members, and non-member orthopaedic surgeons with a desire to improve their arthroscopic knowledge and skills in foot and ankle arthroscopy and sports medicine.

AANA has determined the need for this live educational activity based on identifying professional practice gaps, previous course evaluations and the AANA Self Assessment Examination. The educational content of this activity was based upon current issues and topics provided by AANA planning committees and membership.

The Arthroscopy Association of North America is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Refunds

Requests for refunds must be received in writing by the AANA office at least four weeks prior to the start of the course. Refunds will not be issued for requests received less than four weeks before the start of the course.

Course Transfers

You may switch courses within the same year, space permitting, by notifying AANA in writing at least four weeks prior to the course.
