Dear AANA Members and partners,
As you might already be aware, the AAOS Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 Annual Meeting scheduled for March 24-28 in Orlando, Florida, including the AOSSM/AANA Specialty Day program on March 28.
Given the increasing concerns nationally and internationally regarding COVID-19 (novel coronavirus), this was the safest decision for you and your patients. While we realize the importance of the AAOS Annual Meeting and Specialty Day, we proudly stand by and support the Academy’s difficult decision as we continue to work with them through this process. We would like to take this moment to recognize the dedication and hard work the AAOS team put into planning their meeting.
Our AANA President, Larry Field, M.D. said it best, “Our highest priority is, and remains to be, the health, safety and well-being of stakeholders, members and their patients. AANA continues to be devoted to providing educational content and the latest research to our members.” That said, we encourage you to check back regularly for additional information on our website and through our social media channels in the coming days as we work together on ways to deliver components of Specialty Day.
On behalf of our Specialty Day partner, AOSSM, thank you for your continued commitment and support.
AANA’s decisions involving the AANA 2020 Annual Meeting scheduled for May 7-9, 2020 and AANA Lab Courses, are being evaluated on a regular basis with key stakeholders, including the Gaylord Texan Resort and the Orthopaedic Learning Center, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other state agencies. As it stands, the CDC has identified North America’s potential risk as being low. Therefore, all upcoming AANA education events are scheduled to proceed as planned.
For any additional questions or concerns, please contact the AANA office by calling 847-292-2262 or visit our website, www.aana.org to view AANA’s official COVID-19 statement.
