Whether you are just starting out in orthopedics, or have experience that you want to fine tune to fit an arthroscopic practice, this course will prepare physician assistants to thrive. The more experience a PA has to offer a practice, the better, and having experience may make the difference between getting a job, getting a raise, or missing out. This course focus on teaching PA's how to be excellent clinicians in an arthroscopic sports type practice: relevant anatomy, diagnostics, ultrasound, and how to become an excellent surgical assistant.

APEx courses were designed with the whole surgical team in mind. Physician attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their PA, NP, RN, or other support staff. There is no better way to prepare for real-world OR situations than to train together.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course the participant will be able to:

  1. Understand basic arthroscopic anatomy and develop arthroscopic motor skills for various procedures in the shoulder and knee
  2. Understand the diagnosis, physical exam and treatment of basic shoulder and knee injuries
  3. Build fundamental knowledge to perform shoulder and knee ultrasound

Target Audience

The primary target audience for the course is physician assistants with a desire to improve their arthroscopic knowledge and skills in arthroscopy and sports medicine.

AANA has determined the need for this live educational activity based on identifying professional practice gaps, previous course evaluations and the AANA Self Assessment Examination. The educational content of this activity was based upon current issues and topics provided by AANA planning committees and membership.

Refunds

Requests for refunds must be received in writing by the AANA office at least four weeks prior to the start of the course. Refunds will not be issued for requests received less than four weeks before the start of the course.

You may switch courses within the same year, space permitting, by notifying AANA in writing at least four weeks prior to the course.
