AANA Health Policy Fellowship Now Open for 2026 Applications

Posted 11/3/2025

The past decade has witnessed tremendous change in the reimbursement and regulation of musculoskeletal care – and the future promises even greater change. To proactively influence the legislative and regulatory forces shaping this evolution, AANA established the Health Policy Fellowship, designed to prepare early-career Orthopaedic Surgeons to engage in the national health care policy discussion.

This special one-year fellowship, supported by Moximed, offers participants the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in advocacy, health policy and leadership within the orthopaedic community.

The AANA Health Policy Fellowship is open to Orthopaedic Surgeons in the United States who have completed a certified arthroscopy and/or sports medicine fellowship and who are AANA Members in good standing.

A complete application will include:

  1. Submission of a personal statement.
  2. For current Fellows, letters of support and approval from the Director of the applicant’s arthroscopy/sports medicine fellowship
  3. For practicing post-graduate applicants, two letters of support from AANA Members who have in-depth knowledge of the applicant’s practice and advocacy interest.

The selected Health Policy Fellow will choose a research topic and present the results of this project to the membership upon completion of their Fellowship at the AANA Annual Meeting.

The application deadline is Monday, December 15, 2025.
