Scholarships and Programs

Intended for arthroscopy fellows completing their training and preparing for practice along with PGY5 residents with an interest in arthroscopy and sports medicine, this 1 ½-day advanced skills course features extensive cadaver lab time for hands-on open and arthroscopic surgical skills development as well as relevant updates on current techniques. Lab sessions are enhanced with interactive demonstrations and discussions, including audience participation on topics such as making diagnoses, operative procedures, patient cases and practice management

 

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be:

  • An AANA Member in good standing. AANA Resident Membership is free! See details and apply. 
  • Be an Orthopaedic Fellow or Chief Resident in their fifth year of training (excluding time spent in research)
  • Enrolled in a training program located in the United States, Canada or Mexico.

 

Application Details

  • Application must include the completed online form, a CV, personal statement (not exceeding 500 words) and letter of recommendation from your training program director. The personal statement should describe your interest in arthroscopic surgery, what you hope to learn from the experience and how you will share what you learn.
  • Application deadline is December 15, 2023.

The AANA Education Foundation, AANA will be awarding six scholarships to attend either the AANA24 meeting in Boston, May 9-11, 2024 or an Advanced Lab Course (see dates below) at the OLC in Rosemont, Illinois. Each scholarship will cover course registration and up to $2,000 in travel reimbursement.

  • Advanced Shoulder August 23-24, 2024
  • Advanced Wrist and Elbow August 23-24, 2024
  • Advanced Knee September 13-14, 2024
  • Advanced Hip September 13-14, 2024

If the Advanced Lab course is chosen, this features an all-star faculty will guide attendees through discussions on the latest clinical algorithms, backed by peer-reviewed publications, and cutting-edge surgical techniques. Additional learning elements include lectures by distinct expert faculty members, eight hours of hands-on cadaveric surgical labs, case-based panel discussions and pearls on how to avoid complications and ensure clinical success.

Description

The AANA Education Foundation will award 50 scholarships for Orthopaedic Residents to attend the 2024 AANA Annual Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, May 9-11, 2024. PGY3, PGY4 or PGY5 Orthopaedic Residents residing in North America during the 2023-2024 academic year and who have an interest in minimally invasive or arthroscopic surgery are encouraged to apply.

 

This is an exclusive opportunity to attend the AANA Annual Meeting; learn more about the latest arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques and trends; and network with leading educators and surgeons.

 

The scholarship includes:

  • Registration to the 2024 AANA Annual Meeting and Resident/Fellow Education Track
  • Up to $550 travel reimbursement.

Please note: Members can apply for multiple scholarships throughout the year, but will only be awarded one scholarship per calendar year.

Thanks to funding from the AANA Education Foundation, AANA is offering two scholarships to attend the Advanced Hip Arthroscopy Course. Each scholarship will cover course registration and up to $500 in travel reimbursement.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be a U.S. member of AANA in good standing
  • Applicants must complete the scholarship application, including CV and personal statement, and provide a letter of recommendation.
  • Members can apply for multiple scholarships throughout the year, but will only be awarded one scholarship per calendar year
