Kevin Bonner, M.D., FAANA, an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in shoulder and knee surgery at the Jordan-Young Institute in Virginia Beach, assumes the role of President of the Arthroscopy Association of North America for the 2026–2027 term following the 2026 AANA Annual Meeting. He also serves as Director of the Jordan Research Foundation and as a Clinical Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he is actively involved in clinical education and research.


Dr. Bonner recently completed his terms as Second and First Vice President and has been an active member of AANA for many years, contributing in a variety of leadership roles across multiple committees. His background also includes distinguished service in the U.S. Navy, where he served as Chief of Sports Medicine at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and as Orthopaedic Surgeon for the U.S. Navy SEALs.


As he takes office, Dr. Bonner is focused on building upon AANA’s strong foundation as a global leader in arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery. He is committed to delivering high-quality, relevant educational opportunities that support surgeons at every stage of their careers while continuing to foster innovation and collaboration across the field.


“Stepping into this role is both an honor and a responsibility,” Dr. Bonner said. “AANA has played an important role in my own professional development, and I look forward to working with our leadership and membership to continue advancing education, innovation and collegiality in arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery.”


Throughout his career, Dr. Bonner has emphasized thoughtful, evidence-based care and the responsible adoption of evolving surgical techniques. As president, he plans to support initiatives that enhance access to education, encourage engagement across the membership and reinforce AANA’s position as a global resource for arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery. He also envisions AANA playing an expanded role in education across the full continuum of care.


He is also deeply committed to fostering the next generation of orthopaedic leaders by supporting early-career surgeons, fellows and residents – ensuring the continued strength and vitality of the organization.


Dr. Bonner joins a distinguished presidential line dating back to 1981, continuing AANA’s long-standing tradition of leadership in advancing arthroscopy and minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery.
