Prerequisites
To be eligible for Active Membership, you must:
- Be a medical or osteopathic doctor
- Have completed an orthopaedic surgery residency
- Practice or reside in the continent of North America
- Be certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American Osteopathic Association, or the Consejo Mexicano de Orthopedia
Required Documents
To submit your application, you will need to upload the following files:
- A proof of board-certification.
- Two completed Sponsorship Forms . Visit our Find A Sponsor page for more information.
Dues & Fees
- A $100 application fee will be collected when you submit your application.
- Annual dues for Active Members are currently $895 per year for U.S. and $350 for Canada and Mexico. You will be activated as an Associate Member, pending your approval for Active Membership. Once approved you will automatically be upgraded to Active.
- Annual Dues for Active U.S. Military Members are currently $250 per year. To qualify for this discount, send a copy of your military ID or letter from your superior officer to membership@aana.org.
Obligations of Membership
To maintain your membership, you must:
- Pay your dues
- Adhere to all rules, regulations and criteria as outlined in AANA’s Bylaws
- Attend at least one AANA Annual Meeting within each three year period.

- Be a medical or osteopathic doctor
- Have completed an orthopaedic surgery residency
- Practice or reside in the continent of North America
- Be certified by or awaiting application for certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American Osteopathic Association, or the Consejo Mexicano de Orthopedia
Dues & Fees
- Annual dues for Associate Members are currently $895 per year. You will be invoiced for your first year's dues upon approval of your application.
- Annual Dues for Active U.S. Military Members are currently $250 per year. To qualify for this discount, send a copy of your military ID or letter from your superior officer to membership@aana.org.

- Be within two years post-orthopaedic surgery residency completion or within two years post-fellowship,
- Practice or reside in the continent of North America
