Applications Now Open for the AANA Emerging Leaders Fellowship

AANA is now accepting applications for the inaugural AANA Emerging Leaders Fellowship, a new one-year program designed for Orthopaedic Surgeons who are ready to become more involved in AANA.
This fellowship will select two AANA members for an immersive leadership experience focused on mentorship, professional development and meaningful engagement with experienced AANA leaders.
"The best leadership lessons come from experience and from learning alongside people who've already walked that path," said David Tennent, M.D., Chair of the AANA Emerging Leaders Committee. "This fellowship gives early careerists and emerging leaders within AANA the opportunity to build those relationships while gaining experiences that prepare them for future leadership within orthopaedics."
Fellowship Highlights
Selected fellows will:
- Receive personalized executive coaching
- Learn from experienced AANA leaders through one-on-one mentorship
- Visit respected Orthopaedic practices to see leadership in action
- Complete a capstone leadership project with guidance from an AANA Godfather
The fellowship is open to AANA members in good standing who have at least five years in clinical practice, previous AANA committee service, demonstrated leadership experience and an interest in future leadership within AANA.
Applications are open August 1-October 1, 2026. Two fellows will be selected for the inaugural class.
